Perseverance An Attribute Of Success

Uncategorized Comments Off

When I logged into my messenger today one of my friends had send me a quote which read, “You never win the silver, you always loose the gold”

When I read this I was wondering what an attitude this quote just simplified. I could not just brush it off my mind as I started to contemplate on it. Generally people loose hope or confidence when they fail to meet a target. This quote can be simplified anyway way the reader wants to either positively or negatively. Taking it positively will only make the reader more aggressive in his next attempt as he will develop perseverance and more self confidence which will definitely drive him to win the gold. Negative thinkers will only fret and fume and use this quote to further cry over the spoiled milk.

How can we develop perseverance? Before discussing the ways and means to develop perseverance let us first know what perseverance really means. The great self help author Dale Carnegie in one of his books defines perseverance as something through which we can ‘develop success from failures’; he further says that failure and discouragement are the surest ways to success.

‘Victory belongs to the most persevering’ was what Napoleon Bonaparte felt and we all know about his courageous endeavors to win over the whole world. From time and again our teachers and parents never failed to develop our perseverance by quoting, ‘aim for the sky and you will at least reach the tree top’. There are many eminent personalities and successful people who had attained great heights in life because of their perseverance.

We all know the famous scientist Albert Einstein but how many know that he had learning disabilities. He hated going to school and was a drop out in his earlier age. But due to his determination he developed perseverance and became a great scientist who was known world wide. Many differently able people too like Beethoven, Helen Keller, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson etc developed perseverance and become successful in their respective fields.

Now let us come back to how to develop perseverance in our daily life? Everyday many incidents take place out of which some are inspirational and others are discouraging and detrimental to our mental disposition. How to deal with such situations and develop a strong character wherein we can develop perseverance in our lives? First of all attitude is everything in our lives, the right attitude will lead us in the right path and the negative attitude will definitely pull us down.

Surest ways to develop perseverance is collect and read inspiration stories about successful people whose determination and hard worked lead them to success. Always placing inspirational and motivating quotes around the work area or where it just visible constantly to catch your attention. You can attend self help seminars or get involved with social workers or groups who will increase and develop perseverance in your life. Always do not postpone things and be determined to always finish everything that you start as commitment and hard work can be the key to your success.

Building a strong character based on human values is also very imperative as this will instill patience and endurance. Do not be judgmental and always be calm and never complain. Perseverance is nothing but never giving up. Try again and again until you get the desired changes. Let not failures discourage you and do not allow success to get on your head. Live a balanced life and always remember the words of Charley Taylor, ‘work hard and give it your best shot; never be a quitter’.

Only cowards will blame others and the circumstances for their failures in life. Brave people usually learn from their failures and develop perseverance and determination to work much harder and never give up until they succeed. Growing from experiences in real life is a great tutor much greater than any university degree. Successful people never look back at what they lost but move forward with what they have.

Don’t fret and fume at what you do not have, make use of the resources in hand to come up in life. Many people will just wait for an opportunity to knock their doors but that never happens, you have to go hunting for better opportunities that life is abundant with. Miracles never happen on their own until we are aware of their presence and pull them down.

Powerful Shyness Help from the Self Help World

Uncategorized Comments Off

Shyness, also known as social anxiety, is a burden to your social life.

Children and adults alike face this problem no matter which economic status they belong to.

Though many self-help materials are available, sometimes it just does not seem to assist you much in alleviating your phobia. Some people complain that there are no results even if they follow some procedure step by step. This happens because of some reasons. But first, what is self help?

Self help is literally helping yourself without asking for anyone to assist you. Self help is used widely among psychological circles - the same process is applied in different situations.

Disdaining or disregarding self-help is not going to help conquer your fear or social phobia. This must always be the first step. Who else would help you first, but yourself? This is always the most effective of all help provided because in any manner you may start it just by yourself in everyday and common actions.

Just like starting up a conversation with simple greetings such as hi or hello everyday may lead you to longer and simple conversations that need not delve into serious matters. This will help you practice self confidence and boost your self esteem (particularly when you do more than small talk eventually). This may be a preparation for deeper topics for discussion and may automatically produce a positive outcome.

Going through self help, though, is not enough for everyone. It matters on how serious the phobia has become in the person. You may rely on self help because it is one step in defeating social anxiety, but having reinforcement from other people is not bad either. Seeking help is normal if your social anxiety gets out of control.

There are a few reasons why self help fails to help a person in a certain situation. One reason is too much anxiety may lead you to loss of words even with adequate preparation, or even if you are knowledgeable about a topic.

Another reason is, even if you are knowledgeable about the topic being discussed, you may feel it is unpleasant to discuss and you feel discomfort again.

An additional factor is giving up altogether. No matter how prepared you are for a discussion and how you apply what you know, yet somehow it may not seem to work out the way you expect. So, you start to feel like a failure and give up. Remember then that there is no failure in interacting with people. It just sometimes produces a different scenario from what you expect.

Lastly, you might even know all the details of a topic, yet you are not motivated enough to integrate them into the conversation. Keeping your knowledge to yourself will just make matters worse. Your courage must be developed little by little so start with even the slightest conversations.

There are people who may help you understand and conquer your phobia, such as a family member, a friend, a loved on or a professional. But start within your self to uncover the courage you need to make shyness help work for your own social anxiety.

Expect Nothing But The Best For Yourself

Uncategorized Comments Off

Ever had the feeling where you expected to achieve something so intensely and you actually achieved it? Or are you able to count the times when you expected and hoped that your dreams, aspirations, desires and goals will turn out the way you imagined and they actually did? Expectation is a powerful tool and it can and will go a long way in shaping your life and your future.

In order to constructively and effectively shape the best for your life, you must first and foremost expect the best from yourself. You have to insist, nay, demand that you give a hundred and one percent (or more) in everything that you do to produce the best and successful results. Think of ways on how you can expect to churn out the most practical, useful skills and knowledge from yourself. Then ask yourself how you can expect to apply the most effective efforts and actions to obtain your success. You must make it a point not to falter, default or slacken in your tasks and actions. Treat procrastination like a bad flu - you know you have to find ways to overcome procrastination or it will halt your success, just like how a bad flu will weaken your body if not cured. Always remember that when you can afford to give your best, do not think for a moment that you can give your worst.

In fact, the subject of love is a very relevant example to illustrate how expecting the best from yourself can effectively shape your life. When you expect a boy/girl to notice you and eventually fall for you, will you take the appropriate steps like looking good, approaching him/her, complimenting him/her, getting him/her romantic gifts, etc, or will you just look your worst, sit back, relax, do nothing and expect him/her to magically fall heads over heels in love with you?

You do not live in this world alone. So, to achieve even greater success, you must not just expect the best from yourself, rather, you must also expect the people around you to give their best. You must be able to influence them with your words, your thoughts, and your actions, leading by example that they may emulate you and assist you in producing quality work and achieving positive results for your life and theirs.

Your parents are probably the most suitable example to demonstrate the truth of what I had just mentioned above. There was probably a time when your parents expected you to eat your vegetables, not just a piece of broccoli, but all your vegetables. They might have told you why you should eat your vegetables - because they are good for you - and they led by example by doing what they expected their child to do. This would have probably instilled in you the importance of eating vegetables and you subsequently started eating vegetables. In some ways too, you have actually subconsciously assisted your parents in achieving their goal of getting you to eat your vegetables.

So the next time you embark on improving your life or obtaining a certain goal, tell yourself that you must expect nothing short of the best from yourself and the people around you so as to make that improvement or goal a reality.

How to Beat Gas Stations at Their Own Game

Uncategorized Comments Off

Gas prices are finally starting to come down. But gas is still relatively expensive. I remember when gas was selling for well under a dollar back in the 1990s. Here are a couple of simple tips on how to save money at the pump.

First, know when to fill up. According to Marshall Brain, founder of HowStuffWorks, a consumer guide, you need to time your fill-up. Most gas stations change their prices in the morning, usually between 10 a.m. and noon. So if gas prices are moving up, the best time to fill up is in the morning — before the station increases its price.

If, on the other hand, prices are falling, wait until the afternoon or evening. With the current drop in prices, I saw a station drop its price by 18 cents in one day. If you had filled up that morning, you would have spent an additional $3.60 on a 20-gallon tank versus filling up later that evening. (Tip: Many new cars will operate more efficiently for a lot longer if you fill up when the gas tank is a quarter full. Going lower will pull junk up from the bottom of the tank and gunk up the gas lines and fuel injectors over time.)

Second, when prices are rising, fill up more often. If you typically fill up when the tank is one-quarter full, fill up when it’s half full instead. This won’t save you a lot of money on each fill up, but it can save a lot over time. When prices are falling, do just the opposite. Wait as long as you can between fill-ups. This will give more time for gas prices to fall. When prices are dropping fast, this can save a lot of money.

Third, don’t fill up on weekends. According to Marshall, gas stations, especially those close to the highway, will often elevate their prices on weekends to take advantage of travelers.

And finally, be aware of gas station tricks. According to the Boston Globe, some stations are changing the names of their gas. Instead of “regular,” they use “economy,” and then call their mid-grade gas “regular.” Unsuspecting customers reach for the “regular” and end up spending 10 to 20 cents more per gallon. The key here is to pay attention to the octane number. Most cars, even the high-performance Porsches, operate just fine on the lowest octane gas. In some cases, the “economy” and the “regular” will have the same octane level. Obviously, buy the cheaper gas.

Success Is A Secret 5 Letter Word

Uncategorized Comments Off

Success. There is virtually no doubt that everyone wants to achieve it. But what are the secrets you need to attain true success? And how do you go about achieving true success? Everyone has his or her own definition of being successful but there is one major secret that will decide whether you succeed or fail tremendously in life if you choose to follow it.

That major secret is simply to have focus in whatever you do. How many times do you find yourself in situations where you are overloaded with ideas? And how many times do you find yourself being unsure of what to do with those ideas? The key is not to discard those ideas, rather to consolidate them and then focus on just one or a few of the ideas.

Once you have focused on an idea, you must next remain completely focused to resist making too many changes. A few changes here and there is alright but making too much will only slow down your rate of success. Always remember that being focused means you must know the exact path or direction you want to and will be taking once you decide on an idea or a few ideas and not deviate away from it. And once you are clear of the exact path or direction to take, it will definitely steer you towards taking the right and effective actions towards transforming that idea or ideas into a successful reality.

Focus is not just limited to our ideas or plans. In fact, focus is very much linked and very significant to most of the activities or things you do in your life. Let me demonstrate my point with a simple illustration of embarking on a successful online business experience. When you create an online business, it definitely has to be very focused to attract the right traffic and generate sales. For example if you are doing an online business on baseball, a very competitive and general market, you can definitely attain better success if you focus more accurately on promoting baseball products rather than just baseball alone. You will have more targeted traffic coming to your website, bringing along focused customers who know exactly what they want to find, which in this case is baseball products. And once they see that your website is providing the exact focused products that they require, this will lead to purchases from your website which in turn will translate to extra income for you.

Focus. The simple yet effective secret to achieving success. Do not stray too much from your initial idea and fight the temptation to make too many changes. There is no doubt that you will definitely reap the benefits of success and get more things done if you remain focused.

The Easiest Goal Setting And Achieving Formula Youll Ever Hear

Uncategorized Comments Off

The past few weeks had seen me occupying myself with other commitments apart from my website. I had been working on creating and launching my viral marketing software product by promoting it on several internet marketing forums, purchasing leads, distributing articles and approaching editors of internet marketing newsletters.

I confess I had not done any conscious or ’serious’ goal setting or even any visualising at all to help me in this effort, but I have achieved a significant measure of success in this after all.

Only now do I realise that what I had been doing and been through was a good lesson on how not to set goals and achieve them. In fact, in a way, I had stumbled upon what could be the easiest goal setting and achieving formula you’ll ever hear.

The formula is this:-

1. Know what you want to achieve. Not just ‘know’ by having a vague idea in your mind but set for yourself, in your mind (and you don’t even have to write it down on paper, unless you want to, which is not necessarily better, but sometimes good in some ways), the specific physical (or visual) outcomes that would tell you that you have achieved your goal 100%. For example, let’s say you set to achieve a goal of earning $1000 from your online business by the end of the month. The physical (or visual) outcomes that would tell you that you have achieved that goal 100% would be an increase of $1000 in your merchant account and sales figures of your product that earn you $1000 worth of profits.

2. Come up with a simple and straightforward plan of action that had been used by many other people seeking to achieve the same goals as yours, and launch your attack. If you have no other idea about where to look, start with the internet and search for websites run by these successful people. Or you can even check out the news, magazines or books that talk about the tactics used by these successful people.

3. Keep attacking your plan of action, modifying it along the way should you encounter any setbacks or difficulties or changes of circumstance, until you succeed or you truly feel you’re going nowhere and you stop to take a break and re-evaluate things.

4. If in Step 3. you achieve your goal, congratulations! If not, do an infinite loop by going back to Step 2. and never stop until you reach your goals.

It really is that simple! Trust me, Thomas Edison had to struggle with Steps 2. to 4. for 9,000 times before he achieved his goal.

Through A Microscope Look Whos Watching Now Part 1 of 3

Uncategorized Comments Off

This article examines the impact on taxpayers and appraisers as well as their advisors of the new Federal provisions of the Pension Protection Act. For appraisers performing valuations for federal tax purposes in accordance with the Pension Protection Act (PPA), signed into law in August 2006, stipulates new penalties and stiff sanctions if the appraisers or appraisals fail to meet the new qualifications.

The Backdrop

The Congress and IRS, to safeguard the U.S. tax system and force taxpayers to straighten up, have introduced new rules and restrictions that impact lawyers and accountants as well as taxpayers. The Pension Protection Act (PPA) of 2006 establishes severe penalties for unethical conduct on the part of accountants involved in federal tax information consultancy to private firms.

Previously, the government’s targets for tax abuse were various corporate transactions. But now it has trained its guns on the venerable charitable contribution deduction as well. The act attempts to prevent overvaluing the property given to charity to take advantage of the fair market value deduction. According to Section 170(f)(16)(B), Congress has invited the IRS to stop the deduction completely. In the middle of the gun battle are the appraisers who opine for the taxpayers about the values of property that they give to charity.

Qualified appraisers
PPA also requires that appraisals need to be prepared by qualified appraisers.1 A qualified appraiser is defined in the Act to mean a person who has earned an appraisal designation from a recognized professional organization or has met minimum education and experience requirements established by the Treasury Secretary through regulations. An appraiser will not be treated as a qualified appraiser unless the appraiser demonstrates verifiable education and experience for valuing the type of property subject to the appraisal. Also, the appraiser must not have been prohibited from practicing before the IRS at any time during a three-year period prior to the date of the appraisal.

To sum it up, it is now required that an appraiser valuing property for charitable deduction must be trained and experienced and a vague representation by the appraiser will no longer suffice.

Appraisal Impact on Charitable Contributions
PPA has led to an increase in mandatory requirements for appraisals and appraisers to meet Internal Revenue Code Section 170, which covers charitable requirements.

It is now required that all claimed deductions in excess of $5,000 must be accompanied by a “qualified appraisal.” The regulations have duly defined the terms “qualified appraisal” and “qualified appraiser.”

All appraisals to qualify must fully comply with Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP). Those that do not fully comply but are “consistent with the substance and principles of USPAP also satisfy this requirement.

Qualified Appraiser:

According to the Act for a person to be a “qualified appraiser” must meet 5 requirements as laid down in the code. According to these requirements, an appraiser must:

1. Have earned an appraisal designation from a recognized professional appraiser organization
2. Demonstrate “verifiable education and experience” in valuing the type of property subject to the appraisal
3. Regularly performs appraisals for compensation
4. Not appear on the IRS’s disqualification list at anytime during the three years prior to the date of appraisal
5. Meet other requirements [to be] prescribed by Secretary

However there is an exception available to taxpayers when the appraiser fails to meet the Act’s rigorous requirements. The denial of the deduction is inapplicable “if it is shown that the failure to meet such requirements is due to reasonable cause and not to willful neglect.”

Further, Notice 2006-96 states that the designation must be “awarded on the basis of demonstrated competency in valuing the type of property for which the appraisal is performed.” Additionally, the Notice notes that alternative education and experience requirements are met if the appraiser has done each of the following:

1. Successfully completed college or professional level course work that is relevant to the property being valued.
2. Gained at least two years experience in the trade or business of buying, selling or valuing the type of property being valued.
3. Fully described his or her relevant education and experience in the appraisal.

Prevention is better than cure. By adhering to norms and being organized and cautious about the whole process would ensure that you have nothing to fear. Educating yourself about the new law and its implications will further minimize your chances of getting in the way of PPA radar and getting penalized heavily.

The Home and the Need to Belong

Uncategorized Comments Off

Only those who have lived away from home actually understand the need to belong. As long as we spend our days in the place that we call home, we are unaware of this need. However, as soon as we are uprooted, we realize the value of “Home Sweet Home”.

Only when one is living the life of an outsider in an alien city does one actually recognize the need to find one’s roots. Perhaps, that is one of the reasons why we all consider eventually buying a home. After all, we will be able to call it our own for a long period of time.

It does not really matter whether you choose to buy a house in the place where you grew up or whether you look at a home that is quite a distance away. What matters is that you feel a tie that binds you to that place.

A house is a long-term investment. So, unless you are looking to either sell it or let it out anytime in the near future, you should look for a house that gives you a sense of belonging. How do you come across such a place? Now, that is the easy part. Just listen to your intuition. Remember, women are not the only ones who are blessed with an intuition; men possess it too.

Once you have found a house or an apartment that touches your heart, get some quotes for it. Remember, you are not going to be able to call a home as your own unless you are able to pay for it. Do you have enough savings to take care of such an investment? What if you do not have sufficient money for that? Would it be sensible to apply for a a loan and be a debtor for years to come?

Those are questions that you will have to decide the answers to. Most people these days are have no issues with the idea of taking loans and mortgages to fund their house-buying expenses. In fact, it makes sense to get a home mortgage to help you pay for that dream house of yours.

There are hundreds of home mortgage loans that all kinds of loan seekers can avail of for that perfect house. Just look around for a while and you will soon come up trumps with a great mortgage loan to suit your requirements. As for being indebted for years to come, that is the price of trying to find your roots.

6 Ways to Save Money When You Eat Out

Uncategorized Comments Off

I admit it, I love to eat out! Unfortunately, eating out is an easy way to spend a lot of money and gain a ton of weight, which adversely affects your health. The FDA says Americans spend half their money on food in restaurants, but get only one-third of their calories from eating out. That shows you how much we’re spending when we eat out.

Obviously, the best way to save money on food is to eat at home. But if you must eat out, you can save a lot of money — and even eat less — if you follow a few helpful tips.

(1) One of the biggest profit centers for any restaurant is drinks. If it’s a big profit center for them, then it’s a big savings opportunity for you. Instead of ordering tea (one of the most profitable drinks), soft drinks, or alcohol, simply order water. It’s not as much fun, but it’s better for you (though unsweetened tea is great for you) and it will save a lot of money.

(2) Have you ever noticed how big the portions are these days? In an effort to make it look like you’re getting more for your money, restaurants have bulked up their offerings. It doesn’t add much to their expenses, but it sure brings in the profits. So to save money, simply ask for a to-go box right when the food arrives. Then cut your meal down the middle and stick half of it in the box and take it home. Not only will you eat less, but you’ll get two meals for the price of one.

(3) Another way to reduce your cost and portion size is to split a meal with your spouse. Many restaurants have caught onto this and now add a plate charge to your bill, but it’s a lot less than a meal.

(4) Appetizers and deserts are huge profit makers for restaurants. The only time you should order an appetizer is if it’s going to be your main course. And desert? It’s never good for the waistline, and it’s always bad for the budget. Though it can be a fun treat when you’re on a special date with your spouse, you should otherwise avoid it.

(5) If you have kids under 10 or 12 (depending on the restaurant), try to go out to eat on a “kids eat free” night. Or use coupons.

(6) Try to make it a business meal so you can write it off. You can write off only 50% of meals and entertainment, but it adds up over the year.

Many times you can combine two or more of these tips and save even more. For instance, eat out on a “kids eat free” night, take half your meal home, and order water. Now that’s a meal your wallet and your waistline will enjoy!

Muddling Through Multiple Loans

Uncategorized Comments Off

Personal loans are the order of the day. Loans are no longer frowned upon by the more fortunate. Instead, people are increasingly turning to various kinds of loans to help them see to their sundry expenses. Loan providers are erupting all over the place. If you thought that we already have enough banks and other financial institutions that are ready to finance your expenses, just do a search on the Internet.

This is where the world of personal finance is increasingly turning to. Newer and newer online loan providers are being born daily. It is no wonder that we are all tempted to make use of the many loans that are available.

Due to the innumerable loans that are available, the loan seeker is spoilt for choice. It is a temptation to take increasing numbers of loans to pay for not just our needs, but also our luxuries.

In the past, cars were the privilege of only the very rich. Today, even an average Joe can go out and buy a car. Previously, most people were content to live in rented apartments. Today, everybody is interested in buying some real estate. We are living in a confusing loan-funded world where we can invest in several things that we might otherwise have considered unaffordable.

The way in which most loan providers get others to buy their loans is incredible. No wonder we keep getting tempted to take on more and more loans. Do not be surprised if, in a few years after the first loan that you take, you find yourself paying off interests on quite a few other loans as well. Taking loans can get addictive. This has become even more marked in these days, when the whole process of personal financing has become as easy as pie.

That is the reason why increasing numbers of people are turning to the mode of debt consolidation for help. Debt consolidation has become an exercise in eliminating the confusion that arises as a result of simultaneously paying off several loans.

No matter how small the loan amounts, having multiple loans to take care of is often a problem. After all, each of these loans is a distinct account each having a separate set of problems. Moreover, paying separate rates of interest for separate loans adds to the confusion and is also a burden on your bank balance.

Debt consolidation does much to ease these troubles by merging the many miscellaneous loans to form a single one that charges a single rate of interest. It is for these reasons that debt consolidation is becoming so popular.
It pays to consolidate debts. Get debt consolidation loans and learn more about loans for debt consolidation.
